XV International Science and Technology Conference “Problems of Modern Nuclear Energy”
On November 13-15, Karazin University hosted the XV International Science and Technology Conference of Young Scientists and Specialists “Problems of Modern Nuclear Energy” dedicated to the 215th anniversary of Kharkov National University.
The conference was attended by more than 80 participants, in particular: representatives of Zaporizhzhya NPP, South-Ukraine NPP, Rivne NPP and Khmelnitsky NPP, scientists from Ukraine, Spain, Georgia and Lithuania. Also this year, representatives of the European Nuclear Society joined the event.
The conference included two sections. The first section covered the topics related to the public relations activities in the nuclear industry, development of Ukraine’s nuclear energy sector and nuclear materials. The second section focused on the issues of improving safety and efficiency of NPP operation, extending the life of currently operating units and main equipment aging management. In each section, the latest approaches and unique developments of scientists and nuclear experts from leading higher educational institutions, research centers and Ukrainian energy facilities and organizations were presented. In addition to the theoretical and applied issues, which included substantiation of design solutions for new equipment, process simulation and equipment modeling, the sections also addressed the issues of strategic development of the industry, in particular, the issue of finishing constructing new power units, use of modular reactors in Ukraine, etc.
