CRCD provided the second training course to Zaporozhye NPP, South-Ukraine NPP and Scientific and Technical Center of NNEGC "Energoatom" nuclear safety departments’ core designers on the use of AР-H (ALPHA-H, PHOENIX- H) software package developed by Westi

On 23 – 27 November 2020, the 2^nd training course was provided to core designers of Nuclear Safety Departments (NSD) of ZNPP, SUNPP and "Scientific and Technical Center" of NNEGC “Energoatom” on the use of AР-H (ALPHA-H, PHOENIX- H) software package developed by Westinghouse. The specialists of RNPP and KhNPP Nuclear Safety Departments also joined the training course that was conducted in support of nuclear safety substantiation of fuel reloads for VVER-1000 reactor cores in Ukraine which include RWFA.

In view of the current situation related to COVID-19 pandemic, for the first time, the training was conducted in the form of webinars, which is in line with the existing IAEA practices of team training.

The training was provided by the specialists of NSC KIPT NFC STE Center for Reactor Core Design that is responsible for the delivery and operation support of Westinghouse computer codes in Ukraine.

During a five-day training course, the staff of NNEGC “Energoatom” were provided an in-depth information and practical training in the use of the software package. Based on the training results, the specialists of the Company were awarded corresponding NFC STE NSC KIPT certificates.

The next training course will be held in the second half of 2021 and will also be accompanied by issuing certificates and a protocol of the certification commission pursuant to SOU NNEGC 064: 2016 “Fuel handling. Refueling in VVER-1000 reactor. The nomenclature of operational neutronic calculations and experiments”.
