8th International Conference "Problems of decommissioning of nuclear energy facilities and environmental restoration"

On April 27-28, 2023, the Eighth International Conference on Nuclear Decommissioning and Environmental Restoration INUDECO 2023 was held online in Slavutych.

The topic was INUDECO. “Nuclear energy: the challenges of war”.

This Conference has been held in Slavutych since 2016 as part of the events dedicated to the anniversary of the Chornobyl accident. More than 800 scientists and practitioners from 20 countries have already taken part in the conference, which is held annually in the satellite town of the Chornobyl NPP, Slavutych. This year, more than 160 scientists participated in the Conference.

Because of the situation caused by the war in Ukraine, INUDECO 2023 was held in the online format of an open discussion on zoom and with a live stream on the YouTube channel.

The conference was organized by: Executive Committee of the Slavutych City Council of the Vyshgorod District of Kyiv Region, Municipal Enterprise "Regional Development Agency" of the Slavutych City Council of the Vyshgorod District of Kyiv Region, the State Specialized Enterprise "Chornobyl NPP", Institute for Safety Problems of Nuclear Power Plants of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Atomremontservice, a separate subdivision of the State Enterprise "National Nuclear Energy Generating Company "Energoatom", State Specialized Enterprise State Agency of Ukraine on Exclusion Zone Management, Institute of Mathematical Machines and Systems Problems of the Ukraine National Academy of Science, Slavutych Branch of the National Technical University of Ukraine "Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute", Public Organization "Ukrainian Nuclear Society".

NFC STE NSC KIPT scientists took part in the conference. Valeriy ZUYOK, Senior Research Scientist, PhD in Physics and Mathematics, presented a report on "Experience of Operation of Westinghouse Fuel (WFA/RWFA) at Ukrainian NPPs". The NFC STE staff directly participated in the preparation of the material: V.A. Zuyok, R.O. Rud, M.V. Tretyakov, Ya.O. Kushtym, V.V. Grydnytskyy and Yu.V. Solovyov, employee of SS Atomremontservice of SE «NNEGC «Energoatom».

We would like to thank the Conference organizers for the opportunity to present the results of the research, as well as for the possibility of establishing cooperation and experience exchange in the field of decommissioning of nuclear facilities and radioactive waste and spent nuclear fuel management.
