Congratulations to a NFC STE NFC KIPT staff member for successfully defending his PhD thesis

NFC STE NSC KIPT team congratulates Serhiy Chernitskiy for successfully defending his PhD thesis: “Neutronic kinetics of a subcritical fast hybrid reactor and a thermonuclear neutron source based on a combination of a stellarator and an open trap”.

The work was aimed at studying a compact thermonuclear hybrid for burning transuranic elements in spent nuclear fuel.

The following tasks were fulfilled in the work:

•      possibility of tritium breeding was studied;
•      heat and radiation loads on reactor first wall were shown;
•      heat load on superconducting magnets was calculated;
•      nuclear fuel cycle for SNF was investigated.
